Helen Whall
After completing her Ph.D. in English literature at Yale, Helen Whall began a long career teaching at The College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. There she offered courses in Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama as well as Modern and Contemporary theater. In addition to her book, “To Instruct and Delight”: Didactic Method in Five Tudor Dramas, Helen was a Theater Reviews editor for Theatre Journal, edited a special Shakespeare edition for the international journal, Word and Image, wrote numerous program notes for Trinity Repertory Theater in Providence R.I, and conducted post production discussion sessions both for Trinity and Hartford Stage. Professor Whall has frequently lectured on Shakespeare and Drama throughout New England Libraries, has published numerous essays on Shakespeare and other dramatists and served as dramaturg for the off-Broadway play, Getting Even With Shakespeare. Having retired from Holy Cross in 2017, Helen now teaches regularly in the Worcester Institute for Senior Education.
