August Abatecola

August Abatecola has worked professionally in the arts industry for 18 years as a director, performer, recording artist, teacher and is the current Artistic Director for Yorktown Stage.

As the Artistic Director, August has continued to expand the programming to make the theatre and the greater Yorktown area flourish with creativity and culture. Throughout his time as the AD, he has doubled the producing capacity of the theatrical season and has made Yorktown Stage a staple for Broadway veterans, professional performers and  local talent. His greatest accomplishment, however, has been founding the Yorktown Stage Kids program which now boasts hundreds of eager young performers who have the unique opportunity to provide quality entertainment to their community, all while honing their skills.

August was elected Chair of the first Yorktown Arts and Cultural Committee. This organization is a partnership between local artists, the Town Board and the Chamber of Commerce to bring all forms of art and culture into Yorktown.

Most recently, August has been heading the design and future programming of the highly anticipated Hudson Forum. Along with the Galvan Foundation, he plans to create an inspiring, welcoming and safe environment for artists, students and audiences alike.
